Build Your Own Qforia Dashboard for AI Search Insights

We built this Qforia workbook and paired it with a Looker Studio dashboard so you can see exactly how generative AI systems—like Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode—transform a single search query into a network of related topics.

Qforia is our experimental platform for testing how AI interprets, expands, and retrieves information in response to a query. It’s designed for SEOs, content strategists, and digital marketers who want to:

  • Watch a single question fan out into multiple related queries and subtopics.

  • Spot gaps and opportunities in your coverage for specific keyword clusters.

  • Compare how retrieval patterns change between “simple” AI Overviews and “complex” AI Mode outputs.

  • Explore AI bias, localization effects, and entity relationships that might shape what’s shown to end users.

Once you grab the template and follow the steps below, you’ll have a functioning dashboard you can customize with your own Qforia data.

Step 1: Get a Gemini API Key

If you don’t have one yet, create it by clicking + Create API key in the Gemini API console.

Step 2: Connect Your API Key to Qforia

Open Qforia and enter your Gemini API key in the settings.

Step 3: Run Your Query

Type in your query, choose AI Overview (Simple) or AI Mode (Complex), and hit Run Fan-Out.

Step 4: Export the Results

In the results table, hover over the header and click the download icon (down arrow). This will give you a CSV file.

Step 5: Update the Raw Data Sheet

Open the workbook template and paste your CSV data into the Raw_Data worksheet.

Step 6: Adjust the Excluded Keywords List

The workbook filters out certain keywords from the dashboard view. The list is alphabetical, and you can add or remove terms as needed.

Tip: Keep essential query terms like “how,” “what,” or “where” if you want to preserve bigrams and trigrams.

Step 7: Link Your Data in Looker Studio

  1. Open the Qforia Looker Studio dashboard.

  2. Click Edit at the top (if you’re not already in Edit mode).

  3. Go to File > Make a copy.

  4. In the “Copy this report” dialog:

    • Under New Data Source, click Create Data Source > Create New Data Source > Google Sheets.

    • Select your updated workbook and click Connect.

  5. When prompted, choose Replace Data Source.

  6. For each chart, verify the data source in the Setup panel points to your updated sheet.

Once that’s done, your dashboard will be fully connected to your own Qforia run. You can repeat the process with different queries to see how AI’s interpretation and expansion changes by topic, complexity, and retrieval mode.
